teeth

One thing that Jacob does not enjoy doing is brushing his teeth. It seems to be a constant stuggle. I admit, I use the guilt tactic in telling him that if he doesn't brush, he will get cavities and need to have a shot to get them filled, etc. We are past that now...and Jacob says he doesn't care if he has to get a shot. OK...option B. I tell him that if he doesn't brush, his teeth will fall out and he won't have any teeth left. That didn't seem to bother him either. Jacob's solution: I'll get false teeth!! Great option, Jacob.

you know, he has a good point cher. the falling out of the teeth is inevitable...so, who cares if it is when you are in high school or when you are 80? the quicker you get into those false teeth the better and the less tooth maintenance throughout the rest of your life.

i think i have to side with jake and jeff on this one. in fact, you could use it to your benefit... what you should do is make each tooth that he can get an incentive for excellence. so 1 summer of yard work=4 teeth. earning eagle scout award=2 teeth. 1 tooth=straight A's. -1 tooth for not making freshman year basketball team. it's a simple bartering system. so if he starts this year with some good help for the move, boom, 4 initial chompers. Then depending upon how serious he REALLY is he can gain extra teeth over the years. he could be on to something...

I guess I wouldn't tell anyone about all the family relations that are in the dental profession! Good thing Buddy's not a dentist! Don't feel too bad....my kids are just as bad! I even scale their teeth sometimes because I can't take it! They each have a color coded scaler. Only in a dentist's home, right! Glad your blogging. I didn't know you had one. I looked at Max's and saw yours on here. Hope the move is going okay. Can't wait to see you guys in IP in a couple weeks. Should be fun! Miss and love you!

Okay ... I have the all time perfect solution to kids not wanting to brush their teeth! It takes full the participation of DAD ... but Tom discovered it years ago when Amy, Joan and David refused to brush their teeth without a knock down drag out EVERY night. In the mist of their screaming, tears and complaining, Dad (Tom) walked over, picked one of them up by their feet and held them upside down - over the sink to brush their teeth. Each one got a turn and it became a nightly ritual of laughing, spitting, brushing and fun ... and if we missed a single night they ALL BEGGED to bush their teeth! Amy was so sad when she got to big for Dad to hang her upside down. As for false teeth being inevitable - no way! My dad was almost 94 when he passed on and he had every single one of his real teeth! Believe you me, I am obsessed! I will take each and every one of mine with me to the grave too! Keep on brushing!
